When Hurricane Helene hit, it didn’t just wash away homes—it shook the very foundation of families, communities, and hope itself. But in the middle of that devastation, something powerful happened: people came together.

The National Mental Health Alliance showed up with no blueprint other than compassion, no funding other than faith, and no goal other than to help.

Since arriving in North Carolina, we’ve:

  • Delivered over 150 completed structures—safe, weatherproof spaces for families who had nowhere to go.

  • Built a team of resilient volunteers, including the incredible Amish crew, who have worked tirelessly in the mud, heat, and rain to keep this mission moving.

  • Shown up for every single person in need—sometimes with hammers and drills, sometimes just with listening ears and open hearts.

  • Offered emotional support and mental health guidance to those silently suffering behind the scenes—because disaster recovery doesn’t end with a roof; it begins with healing.

  • Created a network of love, kindness, and community strength that’s carried us through every challenge we’ve faced.

We’re proud of the work we’ve done—but the truth is, we’re not finished.

There are still people living in tents. Still families going without power, water, or security. Still parents wondering how they’ll protect their children tonight.

And we’re still here. Still waking up each day to build, serve, and show love in action.Still fighting for those who feel forgotten. Still believing that no one should be left behind simply because the cameras have gone home.

But here’s the hard part: we can’t keep going without help.

Our team runs on donations. Every single structure, meal, and mile is made possible by generosity. We don’t have a government budget or corporate backing—we have you.

How You Can Help Right Now

  • Donate: Every dollar makes a difference. $5 helps. $50 helps. $500 changes lives.

  • Sponsor a Structure: Want to leave a lasting impact? Help fund the cost of building and delivering an entire unit to a family in need.

  • Volunteer: If you’re nearby—or willing to travel—we welcome hands, hearts, and hope.

  • Share Our Mission: Spread the word. Tell your community, your church, your coworkers. Share our posts. Help us amplify this mission.

  • Host a Fundraiser: Local businesses, schools, and social groups can host donation drives, benefit nights, or online fundraisers. We’ll support you every step of the way.

Whether you’ve supported us from the beginning or are just now learning about our work—we thank you.

Every story shared, every structure delivered, every prayer whispered… it all matters. And we promise you this:

We will not stop. We will not give up. We will keep building until the last tent is replaced, the last tear is comforted, and every single person knows they are not forgotten.

From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for believing in us.

With hope, grit, and endless gratitude,

The National Mental Health Alliance Team
